The AUPO FCC, a Limited Liability Corporation, is a non-profit professional medical organization committed to the establishment of ophthalmology training standards in fellowship programs.
We offer a voluntary compliance system focused on uniform educational standards, protection of the public, protection of institutions, protection of trainees, accountability and enforcement. The compliance process is voluntary and financed by participating fellowship programs, subspecialty societies and the AUPO. All subspecialties in ophthalmology are encouraged to participate in the AUPO FCC.
Applications for Fellowships wishing to apply for AUPO FCC compliant status will be available starting late September and are due by May 1 for fellows starting in July. Annual program fees are $375.00 for up to 2 fellows and $75.00 per additional fellowship position. It is recommended to review the program requirements and the application question before submitting an application. Once an application is submitted online, the approval process typically takes between 4-6 weeks for most subspecialties. Oculofacial Plastic Surgery applications are considered once per year, applications submitted by May 1 will receive notice of their approval status in late November.
To access information about your subspecialty, please visit our Subspecialties page. Here you can find information about applying to the AUPO FCC, completing triennial or quadrennial reviews, submitting required fellow and exit surveys.
